FAQ for weekly LEGO classes in Mumbai

Lets discuss about the FAQ for weekly LEGO classes by Sunday Bricks? Here are the answers to the most frequently asked ones –

1. Which blocks/ bricks are suitable for my child’s age?

For children from age 3 years to 5 years, LEGO DUPLO is recommended and then after the age of 5 years children can use LEGO classic size pieces. However if your child has delayed milestones or with some learning disability then you can continue using blocks until the child has got hold of a good grip and building acumen. However it is important that we know about if your child needs any special attention or learning support and we will be happy to help.

2. What age group is the Lego class suitable for?

We recommend to start any structured creative LEGO building class after the age of 3 years only or when you know your child can sit for at least 45 mins and can take instructions from a teacher.

3. What is the flow of your Lego workshop?

We start with some fun games, then get onto building the theme for the day and if time persists we also love to end the day with a game.

4. Do you give manuals to children to build models?

At Sunday Bricks we do not use any instruction manuals for children to see and copy from. We teach them to think in terms of lines and shapes and build up on their imagination.  This is a slow process but this is what helps them think, visualize and build in the class and back at home too.

5. My child cannot sit for 1 continuous hour to build Legos?

It takes time to build up on sitting tolerance and hence we recommend to start any structured class after the age of 3. Also we include games at start and end to involve some movement. But what we have noticed is that if the theme interests the child then they are willing to sit as long as the model is not complete.

6. My kids are already doing coding, how will Sunday Bricks creative lego building help him differently?

Before any robotics or programming based class children must know how to build creatively and use the bricks in different ways. Most robotics program involve manuals or tablets to see and make the models and then code or give commands as per the program. Also for any kind of creativity in children it is first important to build up on the imagination. Robotics can surely wait and best when started after grade 5.

7. Do I need to purchase LEGO sets separately at home?

What children learn in the weekly classes needs to be practiced or they need an opportunity to build at home. Hence we recommend you atleast have 500 to 1000 lego classic pieces and a baseplate at home.

8. What if my child has never built with LEGO before?

It doesn’t matter at all. Every child can build what they need to learn is additional skills and how to use the LEGO pieces for different purposes. First class might be slightly tricky but after that they will enjoy. And it’s recommended to have some lego at home too to go back and try what was taught in the classes.

9. How will my child manage if the class consists of children with different age groups ?

Imagination and creativity are not totally dependent on age. So younger kids build better than older kids. Having children of different age groups is an advantage for all children as each can learn new ideas from each other. However if a child is struggling then the teacher is there to hand-hold and guide the child.

10. How long is each class?

Each class is 60 minutes. We recommend parents to drop children 5 minutes before the class time so they can utilize the entire 60 minutes. Most centers have back to back classes so winding up on time is also very important for our team.

11. For how many classes can I enroll my kid with your Lego sessions?

You can opt for 5 or 10 classes.  For effective results and build interest, imagination and creativity we at least recommend 10 classes. After that you can again renew for the next 10 classes.

12. Are the instructors experienced?

All Sunday Bricks instructors have been an educator in the past and have been fully trained to lead the Sunday Bricks program. All programs have been curated by our founder Mr. Mrunal Shah who has been trained on multiple LEGO based programs.

13. Can I attend the class with my child?

All Junior and Senior classes are only for children only. However when you attend the first class and feel that your child might not be able to adjust then we recommend you to be in the first class so he/she can get adjusted. Be in the classroom but not near the child as we want the child to independently take instructions from the teacher.

14. Are these classes themed based?

Every class at Sunday Bricks is based on a specific theme and we have 40 such themes.

15. What if my child skipped the class due to some reason?
We have 1 makeup class when you sign up for 10 sessions and there are no makeup classes when you signup for 5 sessions.

16. How can I register my kid?

You can register online and pay via NEFT or UPI or you can pay cash to the teacher at the class.

17. How will i know if my child is enjoying the class or not?

Children will always come back home and say if they enjoyed it or not. We recommend all parents to atleast go and pickup their children after class. This way you get to see what your child has built and also speak to the teacher.

18. How will i know the progress of my child?

All themes at Sunday Bricks workshops are progressive in nature. The desire to build at home, getting better at building skills, having more overall patience, better sitting tolerance, improvement in fine motor skills are all a sign of progress.

19. Does my child have to bring anything while coming to the class?

We provide all the LEGO material for the workshop. Your child only needs to bring a bottle of water and loads of excitement.
