Family Day at work is a special event when employees can invite their loved ones into their space for a view of what day-to-day life is like. It became a day of memories at Google and Visa when Sunday Bricks arranged creative LEGO Workshops that fascinated kids. This event also brought families closer to one another. For companies looking for ideas for Family Day at work, here’s how Sunday Bricks helped make Family Day unforgettable. And this we did with a little help using LEGO bricks.
Interactive Family Day at Google :
Family Day at Google was a fun and interactive day. On this day employees brought their kids to the office for the day to play interactively. The event’s highlight was a 1.5-hour LEGO workshop, designed and facilitated by team Sunday Bricks. This fun event actually kept about 70 to 80 kids fully engaged.
We started the workshop by introducing the children to the Duplo icebreaker activity. Using six Duplo bricks, the kids were supposed to build simple shapes and figures. This task was easy and non-threatening. However, it helped spur creativity and helped the kids break the ice in a group setting. Our objective was that each child, irrespective of age, felt involved and motivated to create.
With the Edison robot car activity, the fun remained on a constant level. Here the kids built and programmed their cars using LEGO-compatible Edison robots. We led the children through programming their cars around obstacles, introducing them to simple robotics and programming in a friendly way. It was fun to observe children and their parents being amazed by watching those creations come to life.
The Google workshop wasn’t just a fun thing to do, but it bonded the families together with challenges and successes. The LEGO Duplo and Edison activities provided unparalleled views to workplace engagement for the kids with their parents. And not to forget it created memories that will be treasured and help in reinforcement of community within Google.
Visa’s Family Day: Jurassic World Theme
We did something really innovative at Visa, where we had a Jurassic World-themed LEGO workshop. In this one-hour session, kids of the employees were free to express themselves by building dinosaurs and other elements that come from the prehistoric world.
Since the very beginning of the workshop, the children showed great interest. Using building blocks such as LEGO, they started the process of creating dinosaurs-from huge T-Rex to fast-moving Velociraptors. Sunday Bricks guided the children through this, further encouraging their creativity and teamwork as they built together a collaborative Jurassic landscape.
The excitement was contagious as they came together to bring their Jurassic World into being. Before the one-hour session flew by, they were out in their creations, supported and guided through both the parents and our workshop instructors.
The Visa workshop for Jurassic World was a roaring success, with creative expressions meeting teamwork. This thematic group activity gave kids a fun way to relate to where their parents work and reinforced emotional bonding within families. This bonding over creating something together made Family Day special.
At Sunday Bricks, we believe creativity and play are potent tools in building connections. The LEGO workshops we have done for Google and Visa are just a few examples of how hands-on activities can enrich Family Day events—entertaining, educating, and serving as a means to build community among employees and their families. For companies seeking ideas for Family Day at work, incorporating family-friendly activities like these can help develop a more supportive culture—one that includes all stakeholders. We are proud to have played a role in making the Family Day at Google and Visa more memorable and meaningful for all.
